Mid-Week Music just got way cooler. I already told you guys about my intense home opener experience. This time lapse project encapsulates everything I was trying to convey.
We are epic. It won’t let me embed the video, but go watch it now!
Last night I was freezing. I was drenched in rain, struggling to keep my feet dry and from my fingers from going numb. The rain was relentless, Portland’s heavens were in full force last night with Jeld-Wen Field as its intended targets.
But it didn’t matter, I was the happiest girl in the world. It was just me, my little sister Kara, 20,436 of our best friends and our 11 men in green.
I hate to tell you mother nature, but nothing will stop the Rose City!
There is nothing like a Portland Timbers game. The feeling in the stadium is absolutely electric and the passion I feel during the games is off the charts. It’s due to the Timbers Army who create such a joyful and celebratory atmosphere. They are kick ass in every sense of the word. And I can’t pretend that I am in the army, but I can tell you that I am 10 sections away, chanting, yelling, and jumping up and down with them. And I am loving every second of it.
It’s during Timbers games when I feel the most connected to my city. Between hugs and high fives, chanting and singing, strangers become united in the heart of Jeld-Wen Field.
It’s raw and real and such a beautiful and exciting experience.
Here’s to a great season Timbers! Onward Rose City!
Today was the Timbers’ first day of preseason training!
I swear, February 27 can’t come soon enough!
I love my Portland Timbers. But these new throwback kits are seriously ugly…
The official third uniform design for the 2012 season was meant for “the past to complement the present…” but for some reason it all looks wrong to me. I totally get reaching into past, the Timbers have a great history in the Rose City.
But a collar on a jersey? Stripes on the hem of the sleeves? How very…vintage…of you Addidas.
I think I mostly dislike the retro 1970s-era Alaska Airlines font…it’s just so…bold Helvetica. Thanks, but I will pass.
What I love about them? They are made from 100% recycled materials and were designed and developed right here in Portland. That’s pretty awesome right there. And I like the throwback scarf.
I get the throwback look, we just don’t have to go ALL the way back to pay homage to our history.
The kit and a speciality scarf are on sale now at the Timbers Store for $175. The set includes the jersey, the scarf, and a collectible, historic photo collage of the Timbers. Hurry, there are only 2,012 limited-edition gift sets!
Ugly kits or not, RCTID baby!
