(mild spoiler alert!)
I loved it. Like full on have been impersonating the Hulk ever since last night. I don’t know the last time I had that much fun during a movie (and trust me, I am a whole lot of fun).
So in full disclosure, I went to see The Avengers last night with Steven and our friends Katie and Dylan. And the only reasons I went were because
a) Steven promised me candy and coke
b) I am trying to win best girlfriend/friend status for the second year in a row
c) The three of them would have killed me if I didn’t go
What I originally thought was just going to be your typical superhero action flick turned out to be the most epic movie ever! I was literally in suspense the entire movie. I laughed, I gasped, I hit Steven a bunch of times, and I stress ate my Raisinets.
That being said, I don’t know anything about comic books, superheroes, or The Avengers. I leave that for Steven… so take my words with a grain of “she doesn’t know what she’s talking about” salt.
First off, the plotline for the movie is basically watching The Avengers try to stop Loki from waging an intergalactic war on Earth… yeah, don’t look to me if you want an accurate plot synopsis…
But I can tell you that it’s amazing how attached you can become to Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, the Black Widow and Hawkeye in a three hour movie span. I loved the dialogue between the characters and how you are able to tell their specific traits and abilities based on their personalities. The level of humor was also wonderful (and very surprising!) There are actually laugh out loud moments during this movie.
The special effects are also incredible! I watched Manhattan blow up from these creepy “Chitauri” alien creatures on cool air scotters (ok, that doesn’t sound cool, but you get what I mean.) We only saw it in 2D (we’re cheap), but I can only imagine what it would look like in 3D… have some extra bucks? Go see it and tell me how cool the battle scenes are!
It is a little hard to follow if you don’t know the backstory and you haven’t seen all the new movies with the individual characters. I still don’t really get Captain America, but I do know he’s super cute, so I don’t really care.
All in all, go see this movie!!
Dylan and Steven are huge Avengers fans… and they loved it.
Katie is an Avengers fan… and she loved it.
And I didn’t even know who they were… and now I can’t stop impersonating The Hulk.
PS: Hulk = Croya? You decide
